Are You Organised For High Performance ?

I went back a long way recently. In fact, I went back 10 years ago to when I was a draftsperson and a manager of my department.

I wish I knew back then what I know now. I would love to have had the skills that sport and coaching has taught me about high performance.

Looking back I wasn’t taking what I was learning from my coaching and applying it in my workplace and I wish I did.

I saw them as two separate things.

I have learnt now of course that coaching and sport is organised for success but my work in the corporate world wasn’t.

In sport we have as part of our daily habit a reflection and feedback process. We set goals and strategies / game plans. We celebrate achievements. We have a sense of team.

We also have clear pathways to elite.

Imagine a corporate world where our managers coached us. If we sat down at half-time and reflected on what we did and didn’t do well and set a strategy to execute well in the second half.

In fact, imagine if we re-imagined our whole lives through the sporting lens and what we could learn and benefit from the way it is organised.

I think it would be quite cool to work and live that way.

Cheers
