What Am I Looking For?

I know a lot of the time I find it hard to read the athletes mind but what about the athlete reading the coach’s mind? What am I looking at when Iook at files and data and messages and race results ?

Consistency : This is our best indicator of managing load. If you are missing sessions then the prescribed load is probably too much. Whether it be from life or tiredness or boredom or anything really, if you cant do it then it raises a flag for me to watch out if I am giving you too much.

Execution : Are you on point with training in the right zone? Did you do the correct distance as prescribed or did you go over or under. It all tells me something. Going over could tell me I havent given you enough. Going too hard could mean you are looking for form. I dont judge on a one off session - I look for trends or patterns that are occurring.

The little things: Sleep, nutrition, equipment, race craft, enjoyment. All of the little things add up to big things. I am always looking for these things and making sure we arent missing vital puzzle pieces.
