AAA Rated

The race is called Triple A and I rate it as that also. Great challenge, great location and the perfect race for our team.

I say perfect for our team because I feel we revel in that kind of environment. The tougher it gets, the better it is. This showed in our performances on the day.

In the Extreme we had a crew of 3 athletes. James Martin 6:23, 1st AG, 2nd OA, Greg Attwells 7:50 2nd AG, 7th OA, and James Bonamy 8:27, 1st AG, 11th OA.

Jimmy had a great race. He found himself competing smartly and built a super strong back end off the back of a solid front end. The winner said he knew he had to build a lead on the bike and lucky for him he did with Jimmy ripping 9min out of him on the run. Greg was super strong on the ride up to Charlottes and left a few in his wake. He then went on and ran strong for a brilliantly executed race. Bonners was strong all day. Swam, biked and ran really well using his experience to pick up the win in his age.

In the Standard it was another good tale. Our team went like this… Dan Inglese 3:50, 4th AG, 10th OA, Paul Humphreys 3:57, 3rd AG, 11th OA, and Dave Hurst 3:57, 4th AG, 12th OA.

Dan used all his experience to stay strong all day getting his pace and nutrition right got him the result he wanted. Humps made the wise decision to race Standard and his 3rd place was testament to experience and built up high career chronic load. Dave has managed his run load to perfection to come back from a knee niggle and raced hard all day to only miss the podium by 35sec!!

It would be remiss if i didn’t say congrats also to the big team of handlers on the day that got the team over the line in great shape. This ius an unsupported event in terms of no aid stations so athletes need their team round them to make it to the end.

The 2024 Australian Age Group Multisport Team was announced today and HPT has placed 9 athletes on the team. Congratulations to Maddie Morton, Kerry Morris, Amanda Behrendt, Darren Alchin, Cheyne Lowder, James Knight, ,Jeff Davis, Greg Attwells, James Martin.
