Canberra + World Cup

Summer must be gone if we are now seeing running on the calendar.

Canberra Half :

This week we had two fine young athletes on the start line of the Half Marathon in Canberra.

Craig Dortkamp had a mixed few weeks leading in with his training but needn’t have been concerned as his 1:23:21 showed some great form. Craig was reassured he is on track still and will now head to Sydney feeling excited for another sub 3.

Keaton Tull used this one as a bit of a range finder for a crack at Gold Coast in 3 months. The plan was sit with the 1:24 pacer and see how the body could hold up. He went 1:27 29 which is really encouraging. Time to add some km’s now with a go at Cairns 70.3 along the way. Great work KT !!

HPT World Cup :

The much anticipated World Cup presentation was on yesterday to crown the winner of this coveted event. It was nice to get out on a Sunday arvo have a few drinks and a chat. I was even nicer to finally announce the champion.

Im pleased to announce the winner was Sammy Taylor !!! Sammy had a faultless race really. She swam strong, biked stronger and nailed a first class run whilst pulling together some clinical transitions. This is a result of some short course focus leading into qualifying for Sprint Worlds later this year.

Congrats again to Jarrod Crump and Maddie Morton who took the line honours on the day.

The much anticipated handicaps are below for your info. With a 5min 40sec spread across the field you can see how tight this type of racing really is.
