The off-season is dead. Townsville was on this weekend. Western Sydney is 5 weeks away, Noosa and Lil’ Husky just 10 weeks away. There’s no place to hide.
It’s now time to read your program backwards ! This is all about focusing on specificity. For the long course athlete that’s the weekend sessions. For the short course athlete, that’s the specific quality sessions mid-week.
Those are the sessions to think about. Look for what gives you the most idea about where you are at for your race and work back from there.
If you have a 70.3 or an Ironman coming up on your plan, the weekend endurance sessions will tell you where you are at. Look at those to see what paces you will be targetting for your next race. Look at those to see how your endurance is. Look at those to see how you are going with nutrition and hydration.
