Nepean + Moo

HPT was out and about again this weekend. We had athletes competing at Mooloolaba and of course we had our HPT World Cup at Nepean on Saturday as well as 4 athletes competing on Sunday in the tri’s and the Road Race

Mooloolaba :

The postponed version of Mooloolaba due to the Cyclone was again affected by the weather. This time we got a race in but without a swim.

Harry Wiles got a late call up to guide Sam Harding for the Oceania Championships and they nailed it. Riding 27min and running 17:53 for the win.

Andrew Walker confessed the lack of swim knocked him around a bit but he battled on anyway in the “swimless tri” posting a 2:05. James Bonamy decided to make a hit at the auto-qual spots on offer in the “swimless aquabike”. This was a succcesful mission finishing in 1:03 and coming 2nd.

Sunday Nepean :

In the 1/30/8 Nepean Distance race Paul Humphreys backed it up well from the Saturday to come in with a 2:05. Steve Mackay was very happy to get a race under his belt given his back issues and finished well with a 2:11. Jordan McGrath raced the Classic Distance of 2/60/16 and had a great run to finish a strong race in 3:53

Jarrod Crump headed back on on the Sunday also but for the Road Race this time. Crumpy’s race had a guy attack off the front but he won the bunch sprint to pick up silver !

HPT World Cup :

Well the heavens certainly opened up for this one and whilst it was a bit wet it was actually great racing conditions. We raced particularly well across the board and importantly had a great time doing so. Having a great time might be mistaken for taking it easy but that’s certainly not the case with some very hard and fast racing. I was particularly impressed with our skills across the day.

Of course this race also doubled as the Australian Super Sprint Champs so the many podiums were another pleasing reward for the hard work put in at training and the many short course races we have been doing this year.

Huge congrats to our line honours winners Jarrod Crump and Maddie Morton !! You both raced super strong and skilfully to come up with the line honours results.

But of course the HPT World Cup is all about the handicap event. As usual this one was close. To find out the winner you wiull have to wait until our presentation on the evening of 13th of April at Sunday Road.

World Cup Results:

We certainly stood out in the crowd at briefing !
