Overload :

If you want to improve (and who doesn’t) this most basic sports science principle is where you should be looking. 

It’s all about doing a little bit more than your body is used to and it will improve. 

A simple Training Peaks search will give you your current picture. What your body is currently used to is your weekly averages for 2024. 

Go and get your average weekly swim, bike, run duration. Then get your average weekly swim, bike and run distances. 

.Now all you have to do is be better than that each week and your body will improve. 

By far, the biggest mistake is looking at what you “should” be doing in a week. What is really in your control is knowing your current year averages and chip away each week at improving them. 

Extra Tip : If your run is your weakness maybe just focus on improving those numbers and be willing to borrow some training hours from the swim or bike . 

Sutho to Surf :

Winter means fun runs and this week is our local Sutho to Surf. HPT has a big team heading to the race this year.

Meet on the corner of Merton and Flora St’s. Outside the “Wanderers” shop.

Here is the latest race schedule. As you know, it’s always a work in progress. Let me know if i am missing any races. I have added a couple of things. One is I have separated out the Wollongong Worlds qualifiers into columns. I have also added in my draft race attendance schedule which will no doubt have some additions along the way.
