Hot

Well that was a big weekend of racing. With Worlds qualifying spots up for grabs in Canberra and Robina it brought the athletes out in force.

Canberra was super hot on Saturday which provides its challenges. Racing in the heat has a solid performance impact and it’s one that is hard to predict. You only know how you handle the heat when you have to handle the heat. We don’t know who it effects and how much it effects you.

Of course, there’s the second side of that. Manage it by sticking to process. Cooling yourself off as much as you can, holding mental regulation and strong physical form is the only thing you can do when the HR is at it’s limits.

Handling the heat physiologically can be trained but you also have to add cooling strategies and be prepared mentally for the impact. Let’s work on adding this into our training now it’s mid-November and the heat has arrived.

Congrats to everyone on their races. We had some massive wins out there this weekend. Worlds qualifying points gained, prizemoney won, a 25% podium hit rate, and returns from injury to racing all ticked off.

A couple of big races are just around the corner so let’s keep pushing !
