Resilience
Each week I have to choose a word or two that sums up the week. I chose resilience this week as that’s what came to mind.
You need to be resilient in this sport. It’s hard. You need to train hard to get the results you want and that takes being resilient when its needed.
I am stoked to see us answering that call.
Coast To Coast
Matty Lester is back into the fray with a strong showing in the iconic Coast to Coast race which doubles as the World Multi-Sport Championships. In an event that has you travelling from the west coast to the east coast in what is called “The Longest Day”, Matty ran, biked and kayaked his way across the south island of New Zealand in 16:38 getting a finish in his first attempt. Congrats Matty - we are all stoked for you. Was very cool watching your run up the “Hillary Step” with Sophie in your arms!
Richie Walker
A nice little crew of 5 headed to the Richie Walker Aquathlon on Saturday with the intent of enjoying a fun local race. Well done to all athletes. Kerry Morris went 56:16, Erica Galea did 55:27, James Knight finished in 47:40 and Derek Calder went 47:16. Maddie Morton buggered the course up a bit so didnt get a finish. Well done all !!
Sandringham 2XU
Jen Medina and I made a last minute call to make a hit and run on some Worlds qualifying points down at the Sandringham race. In a crazy race that saw many athletes pulled out of the swim and then racing in 40km/hr winds, Jen showed that resilience we wanted to go 3:19. Jen was so proud of herself for sticking to her guns and showing what she is made of to get to the finish.
