Matty Jean picks up a W in Stockton
A very busy weekend for the team with racing right across the weekend. From Friday night crits to the Sun Run and Batemans Bay on Saturday and then Stockton and Shark Island Swim on Sunday we were on fire.
When you have a big weekend like that its a great opportunity for me to see where we are at, what is going well that we can capitalise on, and what might need some work.
Friday night was the Sutho Crits and well done to Alex Loughrey who raced well and is developing his cycling well lately.
On Saturday at Batemans Bay we had a strong crew of 4 racing for Sprint qualifying points. Jarrod Crump picked up a podium with a 3rd place in his age in 1:06:22. Chris Jovcevski wasn’t far behind in 1:06:46. Dan Inglese went 1:12:52 and picked up valuable points. Maddie Morton battled throigh some tummy issues forher 1:26:53. Great racing team !
Matt Iceton raced the Sun Run up on the Northern beaches on Saturday and went 42min for top 10% in his age. Great work.
We had a big crew in Newcastle for the Island Tri. A lot of competitors on a tight bike course and a nasty current to deal with on the swim made for a tough race.
Matty Jean showed his class picking up first in his age in 2:05 racing sick. Darren Alchin is freshening up nicely after massive 2024 and raced well for his 2:30. Scott Allison enjoyed the toughness of the course and went 2:34. Great effort on a last minute decision to race. Greg Attwells continues to move forward and his 2:16 was a ripper. Jeff Davis was touch and go for racing being a bit sick but raced anyway and came away with good points with his 2:27. James Knight raced well as he climbs back into training again post a big 2024 also. He went 2:36. Paul Linton was fresh off a Fiji trip, dusted the cobwebs off his TT bike and knocked out a 2:!9. Jen Medina had top 10 in. her mind and did just that with a 2:49. Kerry Morris wasnt racing on Saturday night due to a bad back but woke up and had a crack anyway, finishing in 3:04. Gutsy stuff !
Last race for the weekend was Shark Island. Chris Visvis 49:04 and Keaton Tull 46:56 flew the HPT flag well and experienced the beauty of an iconic Shire event. Well in lads.
I didn’t add places in here apart from the podiums but I was super proud of the placings we had across the board. That means we are pushing forward nicely and we are in a position to hit more podiums.
Next Week :
Not quite as many racers as this week but we do have a 4 day Back Country ski event, Coast to Coast, Richie Walker, Tweed Enduro and and a SLSC Branch Carnival to get through.
