City to Surf
Only 3 weeks left of Winter and that means the Spring races are closer than we expect. In fact, we have the first Aussie tri this weekend at Airlie Beach !
According to my planning charts this also means a number of other major races such as Noosa, UTMB and Busso now come into their build preparations.
Make sure if you are deep in your prep block for the races coming soon then you are looking at your race plans. If you are looking at races towards the end of the year then sit down over a coffee and start making a prep plan up.
City to Surf Results :
Well done to all our team racing at City to Surf yesterday. Looks like the weather wasn’t great but it certainly didn’t hold us back from great running !
Keely Jeffrey : 1:11:45
Kelly Linton : 1:23:25
Craig Dortkamp : 53:50
Chris Visvis : 54:17
Paul Linton : 57:56
James Knight 1:02: 41
Doug Para : 1:09:01
Swim TSS :
The latest challenge Training Peaks it’s throwing at us is swim TSS. Could I ask that everyone changes their swim TSS for each session to heart rate TSS as it is much more realistic and helps me with your load management in programming.
Not Every Win Is A Race :
Shoutout to Di Hurst who ran 10k in training yesterday and is building herself up again really well.
The Bad Week :
Sometimes stuff happens and we end up with a week we aren’t proud of. What next ? There’s many scenarios.
Mostly, just stay the course and continue onto the next week as programmed. Don’t think you need to make it up next week. That rarely ends well. Just put it behind you and move forward.
The thing to remember is that if you are in a race preparation phase then your perdiodisation has been structured backwards from the race and adjusting that can throw a lot of things out.
Touch base with me if you have any doubts.
The Comeback :
As per the above, sometimes life happens to us and we find ourselves with 2-3 of months of not much training.
Relax ! Don’t stress and just start from where you are. No judgement and no beating yourself up.
Start building slowly. Give me 2 sessions in a week, then 3, then 4 and so on. Make the number of sessions you did a win and progress from there.
