Dead Cows
Get as fit as possible and then go find things to challenge yourself. This weekend Jeff Davis took that ethos into the Backyard Ultra that is Dead Cow Gully up in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. The Backyard Ultra’s original intent was a 6.7km loop every hour on the hour and if you got 24 on them you got a “miler” done (160km). Let’s just say it has evolved as an event.
As is the nature of this race, it brings a lot to the table. You dont do this one solo. It’s a team supported race and JD did this with a close mate. This race in particular is becoming a very well attended one. With athletes coming from everywhere to do it. Have a look at the YouTube and you will see why. It’s got the X factor you want in an endurance race.
Jeff managed an incredible 18 yards and 129km in all. A fantastic effort !! Well done Jeff and of course your whole support team.
Local Racing :
