Mooloolaba and More
Superb to watch the diversity of events this weekend. I am super proud of the team. What we do on a daily basis is simply epic and we have a great habit of getting around each other while doing it too.
Just a quick word on training and racing in Spring before we hit the results. Right now is a busy period and we have athletes overlapping preps left, right and centre as we head towards summer and some big events. Rely on your fitness and consistency. That is what gets you the endurance to do what you do. Fitness from consistent volume, and durability from backing up day after day. Peaking when needed and getting the big ones in when the time is right.
Sunshine Coast 70.3
Some great racing and strong preparations led us to great results. That’s the key to remember. Success comes from preparation and then execution.
Great to see Harry pop up in that first swim pack and grit his teeth most of the way to be in with that first tier of athletes. He stayed tough and fought on pushing past a couple in the run also to finish with a 3:55.
Andy Walker was racing on home turf and put together a great race despite the challenge of fainting in T1 ! Andy pushed on well to get the sub 5 time and a strong performance across swim, bike and run.
It was nice seeing Rob Hurley back on a 70.3 start line and he made the most of his rebuild into consistent racing with a 5:26.
Keely Jeffrey is loving it and is a passionate, dedicated and a very strong athlete. It was a pleasure to watch her execute the race plan to perfection using a mix of pacing strategies to suit this course. A great time of 5:28 was the result !
Cronulla Tri Club Race
Great job Greg Attwells and Jarrod Crump racing well at the CTC race as part of their Worlds preps. GTrain took top spot in 52:07 and Crumpy was second in 53:02
Summits Eleven by the Two JD’s
No you won’t see this one anywhere else as it has been one that was brewed up over many training sessions together by our crazy ones, Jarrod Denny and Jeff Davis. The goal being to split board to 11 peaks over 2000m in the Aussie Alpine Region. With a couple of false starts waiting for the perfect weather window the lads got under way at 3am Saturday morning and got to Guthega with a successful mision complete 15 hours later. Congrats guys - this one is epic.
Bridge to Brisbane
Josh Wiley is on a bit of a break but still cranked out a solid 54min 10k run on the weekend. Well done mate !
Training Tip - The Reset
Right about now we will have athletes that through the challenges of life will be struggling with a reset to their training. The answer to that is as simple as it is complicated.
Complicated in the fact that work is a punish, you have a lot of family commitments and let’s face it, your fitness has taken a hit. You feel like rubbish when you do train and feel a bit disappointed you have lost a few weeks or months of training for the season. Sometimes it just sucks !!!
But the solution is simple. Commit to TODAY. Do one thing for you that will start the journey up again. Go for a short run. Easy as you can. 15-20min only. Then give yourself a wrap !! No more beating yourself up.
Then back it up TOMORROW ! Do it again.
Let this week be week 1 !
