Plenty on
HPT kicked the weekend off well with a Bunch ride in at Centennial Park on Saturday morning. First time we have done this and it wont be the last. Thanks to Crumpy for setting it up. Was great to get the Northside getting together with the Southside. The things that standout when i get feedback from athletes about what HPT means to them are quality programming and feedback and the community we have. Sharing the experience of endurance sports with mates makes you a happier person and a faster athlete.
The Gold Coast Half Marathon and Marathon had 3 HPT athletes racing. In the Half, Nathan Leonard battled some gut issues but stayed strong for a 1:48. On Sunday Dan Inglese toughed his way through for a 4:18. Well done mate. Mentally tough ! Keaton Tull experienced some gut issues also but still went 3:12. Great work. Sub 3 awaits!
Dolls Point always drags a few out of the woodwork for a cheeky run. 5 athletes racing. Paul Humphreys did the 5 in 24min, Jess Clifford did the 5 in 35. Scottie Allison and Josh Revell both did the 10 in 45min. Greg Attwells did the Half Mara in 1:32. Great effort by all !
It was also a HYROX kinda weekend and we had 5 athletes competing. Jen Medina went 1:32 in the doubles, Julian went 1:23 solo, Maddie Morton went 1:37 solo and Josh Revell and Sammy Taylor went 1:16 in the doubles.
Ironman and 70.3 Standards
They turned the world upside down last week when they announced the new Kona and 70.3 standards. A great move forward for everyone I feel and the opportunity to work on our gender balance was also well recieved by the Women in Tri groups.
The numbers look complicated but i have crunched a lot of numbers to try and simplify what it all means. I will let you all know soon what I come up with.
Worlds Teams
AusTriathlon announced the final teams for Wollongong this week. A huge congrats to our team that have qualified and now start the hard work for the race. I will release a logo file for everyone in the next day or so if you would like to put it on your suit.
Casual Team Kit
I will be starting to organise some casual kit over the next week. If you have any ideas or preferences please let me know. What hats do you like? What hoodies are best ? etc etc
Race Schedules
It’s now officially Race Schedule Season. I have started the task of building a race schedule which you will see below.
Please let me know if dates are wrong, races have changed or I am missing some. EE have a lot of runs on this year so I will add them this coming week.
The biggest change we had this week was Port Macquarie being moved to October and Western Sydney now in May. Big changes and I have to get my head around what this means to our structures.
